THE RFC CFI PROGRAM IS JUST PLANE BETTER.
You’re Going To Be a CFI, Right? Why Not Enjoy It?
There are CFI jobs. Then there are RFC CFI jobs. As you pursue your aviation career, you’ll need hours… lots of them. Becoming a CFI is hands-down the best way to get the most hours in the least amount of time. But not all CFI jobs are created equal. While all flight schools want you… only RFC wants you to get more out of it than just hours! Check out the other schools first, then take a look at RFC.
Why You'll Love Being a CFI at Riverside Flight Center:
FOUNDED BY A PILOT.
Unlike many corporate-owned flight schools out there, RFC was founded by a pilot who saw an opportunity for a no-nonsense, professional training program aimed at preparing both domestic and international students for the airlines.
He could have sold out to large investment groups, competing flight schools and corporate holding companies over the years – but he chose to keep his program the way it is. Why? Because to him, flight training will always be about developing the best-trained pilots, not padding the bottom line or pleasing shareholders in another state.
NO UNIFORMS REQUIRED.
Scratchy dress shirts, polyester slacks and expertly-tied ties are perfect for training students on a warm Summer day or checking the oil in a twin – said no one ever. At RFC, we believe the best quality training comes from CFIs and students who are comfortable. So, while our standards of training are strictly uniform, our dress code isn’t.
A FRIENDLY CAMPUS.
At RFC, you’ll find that our campus is productive and busy, but also laid back and casual. Got a question or idea? Talk to us. Unlike the large corporate-owned schools with huge chains of command, you’ll get a straight answer from a decision-maker. (Maybe even the owner!)
When not flying, our CFIs and students take part in social events and activities throughout the year that help create a family-like atmosphere. We take the time to get to know our students and instructors and also provide opportunities for them to see and experience the community in which they live. It’s a memorable experience that our former students and CFIs talk about long after they graduate.
MAKE MONEY.
CFIs at RFC make between $30 and $50 per hour. Though many other schools have similar pay, RFC also pays for your standardization and accommodations during your training. RFC will also provide accommodation for your first month of employment.
MANAGE YOUR HOURS.
While other schools may offer a higher hourly pay, they also control your hours. Their centralized scheduling systems dictate when and how often you get to fly. In other words, you may not be able to fly as often as you like – or be able to take advantage of that perfect flying day and take a student up without asking for approval.
RFC is one of the only schools that lets you be the master of your own hours. There are plenty of students for you to instruct – so you have the opportunity and flexibility to fly as often as you wish. That means the more you fly, the faster you’ll build hours, the more money you’ll make and the quicker you’ll progress to the airlines!
FOCUSED STUDENTS.
RFC’s top-quality training program draws students from both the United States and abroad. They are not just dabbling in aviation – they want to fly for the airlines. International students are required to be fluent in English. And our high standards ensure that your students will take direction from you, ask questions and work hard to graduate. Just wait until one of your former students contacts you to tell you they’ve gotten their first airline job!
PROVEN CURRICULUM.
RFC’s FAA-approved Part 141 / Part 61 training materials were developed by pilots. And our pilots are constantly improving and evolving them to be relevant and user-friendly for both our CFIs and students. As a CFI at RFC, you’ll have the best tools to teach – and your students will have everything they need to learn. Plus, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve helped your students get hired as top-quality, professional pilots.
WELL-EQUIPPED FLEET.
Our large fleet of Cessna 152s, 172s, Duchess and Seneca aircraft are always ready to fly when you are because of our unrelenting attention to maintenance. That means you won’t lose hours due to aircraft being unavailable. Each of our fleet features the same avionics and ADS-B equipment so that you can fly any of them instead of waiting for that ‘good plane’ to be available.
(REALLY NICE) HOUSING.
Other schools offer housing. But have you seen it? RFC’s fully-furnished apartments are located at the brand-new Village on Main complex – just minutes from Jones Riverside Airport. You’ll be living large with access to a full range of amenities including a pool, workout center and more. As an RFC CFI, we'll pay for your standardization and accommodations during your training. RFC will also provide paid accommodation for your first month of employment.
A GREAT CITY.
When considering a CFI job, consider where you will live. You may get a higher hourly rate but the location might be a real downer.
Tulsa, Oklahoma is located in the heart of the country. It’s a small enough city to be friendly and easy to get around in, yet it has some things that make bigger cities envious!
Living in Tulsa is more affordable than most other cities. Food, gas and entertainment cost less and you can be anywhere in the city in about 15 minutes thanks to minimal congestion.
No matter where you go in Tulsa, you are never far from outdoor leisure. If you’re into “doing,” then you’re within minutes of 23 public golf courses, 135 tennis courts, 88 playgrounds, 50 miles of scenic biking/running trails along Tulsa River Parks, 10 disc golf courses, miles of hiking trails on Turkey Mountain, skate parks, rugby fields, soccer fields, baseball fields, and more.
When it comes to music and entertainment, Tulsa hosts every kind of concert you can imagine. The BOK Center is the ranked as the 13th arena (in ticket sales) in the U.S., where Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Carrie Underwood, and many more of music’s biggest names have put on memorable performances. A few blocks from the BOK Center stands the legendary Cain’s Ballroom, Yahoo’s ninth-best place to see a live show in America, where you can definitely get up close to the action to witness both big-name and up-and-coming music artists. In addition, there are countless smaller venues and outdoor spaces that feature a multitude of performances throughout the year.
There’s plenty to see and do in Tulsa!
